IPI Spring Forum June 5-6, 2024
The Spring Forum brings together the full force of the IPI community and preeminent speakers, academics, policymakers and industry experts to share ideas across keynotes, panels, and thematic group discussions. The must-attend event of the year, the IPI Spring forum is filled with opportunities to connect with leaders at the forefront of change, address investment needs, capture market opportunities, and reconnect with fellow members.

Martin Babinec
Founder and former CEO, Chairman, TriNet (NYSE: TNET), IPI Member

Martin’s entrepreneurial journey began when he founded HR solutions platform TriNet (NYSE: TNET) in 1988, serving as CEO for the company’s first 20 years and retiring from the Board of Directors in 2022. He played a pivotal role in TriNet’s growth from startup to the first billion in revenue. Martin founded and leads UpVentures Capital – investing in emerging tech startups, hospitality businesses and real estate. He is active in social impact through his UpMobility Foundation as well as founding and helping to lead nonprofits Upstate Venture Connect, Entrepreneurs Across Borders and democracy reform advocates Unite NY.

Robert E. Rubin
Former U.S. Treasury Secretary; Former Co-Chairman, Goldman Sachs; Chairman Emeritus, Council on Foreign Relations

Robert (Bob) Rubin was vice chairman and co-chief operating officer at Goldman from 1987 to 1990 and co-senior partner and co-chairman from 1990 to 1992. Long active in public affairs, Mr. Rubin joined the Bill Clinton administration in 1993 as director of the newly created National Economic Council (NEC). In January 1995, Mr. Rubin was appointed as the United States’ seventieth secretary of the treasury, where he was involved in balancing the federal budget; stemming financial crises in Asia, Mexico, and Russia; and helping resolve the impasse over the public debt limit. Mr. Rubin is also one of the founders of the Hamilton Project, an economic policy project that offers innovative policy proposals on how to create a growing economy that benefits more Americans. A former member of the Harvard Corporation, he graduated from Harvard summa cum laude and from Yale Law School.

Ashvin Chhabra
President, Euclidean Capital (The Simons Foundation); former CIO, Merrill Lynch Wealth Management
Ashvin is President of Euclidean Capital, which is responsible for the management of investments for James H. Simons & Marilyn Simons and their associated foundations. The Simons Foundation is dedicated to advancing research in basic science and mathematics. It is one of America’s two or three largest private funders of these areas. Dr. Chhabra was Chief Investment Officer and head of investment management at Merrill Lynch Wealth Management from 2013-2015. He was the Chief Investment Officer at the Institute for Advanced Study from 2007-2013 and Managing Director and head of wealth management strategies and analytics for Merrill Lynch’s Global Private Client Group from 2001-2007. Ashvin is the author of The Aspirational Investor (Harper Collins, 2015). He is widely recognized as one of the founders of goals-based wealth management and for his seminal work “Beyond Markowitz” which integrates Modern Portfolio Theory with Behavioral Finance and proposes a novel Wealth Allocation framework.

Tim Crown
Co-Founder, Chairman, Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ: NSIT), IPI Member

Tim is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Insight Enterprises (NASDAQ: NSIT), a Fortune 500 company. The company, whose investments include engineering mobile technology, has operations in 22 countries, with more than 10,000 employees and $10.43 billion in annual revenue. Among his many accomplishments, Tim is also Partner of AZ Crown Investments. Tim efficiently oversees a wide range of investments with a keen eye towards limited risks, high returns, and strategic planning. He was also the Chairman and Founder of Director Alliance Corporation which is one of the largest onshore sales outsourcing companies in the technology industry. Insight sold Direct Alliance in 2006.

Fred Thiel

Fred Thiel is the CEO of Marathon Digital Holdings (NASDAQ:MARA), a digital asset technology company with a market cap of $5.5B. Marathon mines cryptocurrencies with a focus on the blockchain ecosystem and the generation of digital assets. Fred has over 30 years operating experience leading companies in the cryptocurrency, digital assets, semiconductor, data communications, Internet, IoT, automation, AI, as well as digital media and software industries. He has repeatedly driven rapid growth and generated billions of dollars in shareholder value.

Liz Ann Sonders
Managing Director, Chief Investment Strategist, Charles Schwab & Co.

Liz Ann was named “Best Market Strategist” by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance and one of SmartMoney magazine’s “Power 30.” Barron’s has named her to its “100 Most Influential Women in Finance” every year since the list’s inception, and Investment Advisor has included her on the “IA 25,” its list of the 25 most important people in and around the financial advisory profession. Liz Ann has also been named to Forbes’ 50 Over 50.

Coventry “Covie” Edwards-Pitt
Partner & Chief Creative Officer, Ballentine Partners

Covie is the author of Ballentine Partners’ Healthy, Wealthy & Wise Collection, a 10-year research effort and three-book series highlighting success stories of how individuals have reconciled their financial abundance with the values and relationships that matter most in their lives. The first book, Raised Healthy, Wealthy & Wise (2014), focuses on helping parents to raise grounded children amid wealth. The second, Aged Healthy, Wealthy & Wise (2017), centers on how to design a vibrant later life and legacy, and the third, Engaged Healthy, Wealthy & Wise (2023), offers a roadmap for inheritors and their significant others on how to navigate love and family wealth and forge their own joint path. Her talk centers on investing in your family’s future: nurturing multigenerational success.

Matt Bank
Partner, Deputy CIO, Global Endowment Management

Matt is a Partner and the Head of Client Strategy and Deputy Chief Investment Officer at GEM. In this role, Matt leads client relationships, supporting investment policy development and partnering with client committees and staff. Prior to joining GEM in 2018, Matt spent six years as a Partner at Windhorse Capital Management, an Outsourced CIO that was later absorbed by New Providence Asset Management. Prior to Windhorse he spent five years at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York. He received a B.A. in Government from Dartmouth College where he graduated with honors, and an M.B.A. from Tuck School of Business. He is also a CFA Charterholder.
